Beginning 2018 on a High

  • Publish Date: Posted about 6 years ago

Recent statistics reflect the happy trend that recruitment in 2018 is on the up for job seekers and recruiters alike!

2017 saw the number of people finding jobs through recruiters rise, even whilst employment rate stayed steady. This is according to a recent report produced by IHS Market and sponsored by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation.

In addition to this, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) recently revealed that the British economy grew at a faster rate in quarter four of 2017. Indeed, Gross Domestic Product (the sum of all goods and services produced in the economy) grew by 0.5% in Q4, compared to 0.4% in Q3.

According to an ONS spokesman, the boost to the economy primarily came from recruitment agencies, letting agents and office management businesses. This statement has been reinforced by the fact that job vacancies across the UK rose by 6% on an annual basis in the three months to November – the fastest rate of growth for over two years.

What Does All This Mean?

In short, there are more jobs available, the UK economy is growing and due to the increase in job vacancies combined with a lack of candidates to fill those positions, starting salaries for both permanent and temporary workers are increasing!

With more employers turning to recruiters to find top-quality staff to join their teams, and an upsurge in available positions, you are much more likely to find a new role by registering with a recruiter. On top of that, if you are offered a job, it is likely that your starting salary will be higher or more easily bargained for!
