Overview of Role:
As a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a vital role in the engineering team. Working closely with senior engineers, you will spearhead projects to create new products that meet customer needs. You will be responsible for executing projects using project management principles while ensuring adherence to regulatory and quality standards. This role combines hands-on engineering with computer-based tasks, supporting projects across the product range. Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential as you will collaborate with various team members and departments, including Sales and Quality.

- Leading the concept and design of production tooling to meet production department requirements.
- Managing project timelines and resources efficiently.
- Creating and maintaining detailed project documentation, including drawings, spare parts lists, and instruction manuals.
- Producing regular project update reports.
- Developing and creating tooling using tool room/workshop-based machinery.
- Developing product test methods, performing data analysis, and assessing design performance and reliability.
- Ensuring compliance with all quality systems and regulations.
- Travelling occasionally within the UK and internationally for project requirements.
- Participating in relevant training courses.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience using a variety of tool room/workshop-based machinery.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software, such as SOLIDWORKS.
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or equivalent experience.
- Self-discipline, motivation, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Confidence in delivering verbal and written updates to senior management, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
Position Details
- Job Title: Junior Mechanical Design Engineer
- Salary: £30,000 to £38,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Hours: 45-hour contract
- Travel: Occasional UK & international travel
