At Select Hospitality, I am currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Sous Chef. The client is a Beautiful family run independent gastro pub, with a brand new head chef in place.
You will have the opportunity to work under an award winning head chef/patron where your input towards dishes and menu development will be welcomed and encouraged.
You will get the opportunity to work across all sections in the kitchen gaining a varied and broad experience in all areas including pastry. The business specialises in fresh local food, the head chef & sous chef come from a multi rosette background and create exceptionally high standard of food.
I am looking for a strong passionate chef, someone who wants to work for a true independent and be part of a progressive team.
Everything on site, including burger buns and ice cream is made on site, so a good understanding of fresh produce and farm to fork would be advantageous.
The clients menu focuses on traditional British dishes as well as rediscovering some great classics.
You will ideally come from a busy fresh food environment, have an interest in food & menu development and trying their own ideas on the menus as well as an understanding of current market trends and seasonality.
As part of your role you will also be involved in running shifts, carrying out due diligence, orders & training of the lower level team members.
You will ideally have your Food Hygiene level 2, along with either a NVQ Level 1 & 2 or relevant industry experience.
Due to the nature of the role, you will need to be able to work a variety of shifts covering weekends, bank holidays and evenings. The rota offers a mix of straights or splits to fit around your needs.
Due to location a car and a driving licence is essential, as it is rural with limited public transport.
