Logistics Scheduler

Function: Planning and Logistics
Hours: 08:30 – 17:00, Monday to Friday
Salary: £31,000 – £36,000 (depending on proven experience)

Job Summary / Purpose:

The Logistics Scheduler is responsible for maintaining the dispatch planner for all products manufactured by the company. You will work closely with Production, 3rd Party Suppliers, and Dispatch to ensure orders are fulfilled on time. As part of the Planning team, you will develop and deliver the planning and scheduling capability for operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan business unit deliveries in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet customer requirements and optimise lorry resources.
  • Coordinate with 3rd party transport companies and suppliers to ensure smooth deliveries and collections.
  • Input and maintain delivery schedules accurately.
  • Maintain shipment records, tracking information, and documentation.
  • Issue delivery instructions and ensure picking and dispatch notes are completed.
  • Act as a point of contact for drivers, allocating work instructions and monitoring delivery status.
  • Handle customer enquiries professionally and promptly.
  • Log returned loads and monitor transportation costs to identify savings opportunities.
  • Provide sickness and holiday cover for colleagues in the department.
Essential Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Planner, Logistics Coordinator, or similar role (Required)
  • Strong numeracy and attention to detail (Required)
  • Microsoft Office and ERP system experience (e.g., SAGE) (Required)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships in a fast-paced environment (Required)
  • Previous experience in production and capacity planning (Preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with excellent organisational skills (Preferred)
