Exciting opportunity to join a household name freight corporation – which employs over 20,000 team members globally, with over 500 sites in 25 countries. This highly successful logistics provider has been established for over 100 years – offering all types of services via air sea road or rail – and taking care of any size, volume and type of cargo from small carton, to OOG & break bulk – for all manner of sectors including pharma, oil & gas, agriculture, mining, retail, energy and retail. This company have the infrastructure and network to deliver effectively and efficiently.
With a strong support system, loyal client base and state of the art software – the role of ocean import operator for this forwarder is an attractive prospect. Regardless of their global scale, this role will be working with a smaller team of 9 staff in Basildon – who maintain a ‘family-feel’ and warm environment.
The ideal import operator will be looking for the security and reputation of a large company, whilst enjoying the benefits of being a bigger impact on a smaller team. A team which can also offer training and development for a less experienced operator or documentation clerk, looking to grow their career.
You will be responsible for all aspects of your clients cargo movement from its departure at origin, to its arrival to customers door, including all documentation, job file loading, customer liaison, scheduling, carrier and haulier liaison, customs clearance and file closure.
As experienced operators know, and eye for detail is key. Your excellent customer service and rapport building skills will be put to best use in liaisons with carriers, clients, overseas agents and hauliers. You too will be valued for your ability to ensure jobs are profitable and handles with care and attention, and often within strict time windows. Your loads will be mostly FCL, with some LCL also.
Varied exposure to modes such as airfreight or overland will be effectively utilised, the potential to operate on a multi-modal basis is tangible. A smaller team does not mean fewer opportunities to develop, and progress within the company. Ambition is warmly welcomed and acknowledged here
