Commercial Waste Account Manager
Location: North Cambridge (Office-based with site visits)
Job Type: Full-time
Contract: Monthly Rolling Contract (Leave Cover) with potential to become permanent
Salary: £37,534 – £42,924 D.O.E
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially driven Account Manager to join a fast paced environmental services team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a sales focused, client facing position and is motivated by building relationships and delivering results.
You will be responsible for growing a portfolio of commercial customers while managing existing accounts, ensuring clients receive a high level of service and operate to strong environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
Sales and Business Development
- Identify and secure new business opportunities
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to closing deals
- Carry out targeted outreach through calls, emails, and client visits
- Prepare proposals and negotiate pricing
Account Management
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Act as the main point of contact for customer queries and escalations
- Conduct site visits, audits, and service reviews
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention
Administration and Compliance
- Maintain accurate customer records and contracts
- Ensure compliance with health and safety and data protection policies
- Support internal systems and administrative processes
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure effective service delivery
- Report on sales performance, pipeline, and KPIs
- Provide support and cover for colleagues when required
Requirements
- Proven experience in sales and/or account management
- Ideally experience within waste, environmental services, or a similar sector
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Self motivated, proactive, and target driven
- Methodical with strong attention to detail
- Good problem solving skills and ability to use initiative
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to travel daily to the Waterbeach office
