Commercial Manager Opportunity Now Available!
Do you have a passion for driving commercial success in the property construction industry? Our leading property construction client is seeking a dynamic Commercial Manager to oversee all Quantity Surveying within the business. This pivotal role will report to the Regional Directors and will hold functional responsibility to the Commercial Director. Perhaps you're a seasoned Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in your career?
In this role, you will be responsible for optimising and converting commercial opportunities while cultivating long-term effective trading relationships. You will play a key role in developing project and business strategies and will ensure adherence to the Company’s Commercial Standing Instructions (CSI). Additionally, you will support the Commercial Director in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, ensuring that best practices are consistently applied throughout the region's activities.
As a member of the regional management team, you will actively participate in various aspects of the business, orchestrating tender appraisals, bid strategies, and adjudications. You will ensure that post-contract administration aligns with the CSI and manage the procurement of sub-traders and supplies efficiently. Your ability to identify and counter commercial threats swiftly will be essential for project success, ensuring effective cost control and dispute avoidance.
Your role will also include providing financial and contractual support to the Regional Director, assisting senior departmental staff in recruiting and retaining capable personnel, and ensuring that staff receive appropriate training and development opportunities. By conducting annual and interim Performance & Development Reviews, you will monitor and enhance team performance while fostering an environment of continuous learning and development.
To be successful in this position, you should have experience in a house building company or property construction, along with a strong educational background, ideally having progressed from a Quantity Surveyor role or similar. You will need advanced skills in forming and developing relationships with clients, project quantity surveyors, and design teams. A strong understanding of commercial strategy, claims and dispute resolution, and financial reporting is also crucial. Additionally, your ability to manage activities across the region and oversee sub-contract and material orders will be vital to the role.
