A fantastic opportunity has become available to join part of a world renowned Cambridge institution. Based in Cambridge, you will be joining the Estate Management team as Systems Administrator for a period of 2 years. Reporting to the Senior Technical Specialist you will be responsible for providing support for the Division’s core systems including the University’s secure building projects administration application. You will also be an advisor to the division with regard to the functionality of the business systems.
Estate Management has a heavy programme with over 20 improvement initiative identified. This requires continuous review ensuring these expensive systems are fit for purpose, comply with legislation, operate to standards and are cost effective.

Job Specifications:
• Plan, manage and maintain data standards across the Division’s core administrative systems, including adherence to GDPR. Establish the needs of users and user access and security.
• Support the division with all the core administration systems and to investigate issues raised and track to the resolution.
• Prepare and participate in internal testing. Develop test scenarios and scripts together with the Technical Analyst and co-ordinate user testing activity as appropriate. Provide post implementation support any changes.
• To write system/database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary. Ensure that such documentation is kept under strict change control and remains up to date at all times.
• Communicate system issues and experiences to the Divisions systems user community. Record all system developments and regularly update the stakeholders on timescales and deadlines.
• Prepare training documentation and supporting documentation for new software releases. Provide face to face training and 1st line support to individuals or groups as required on new releases or use of core administrative systems.
• Communicate system changes, enhancements and modifications, verbally or through written communication, to all audiences including management. Ensure this is done in a clear and concise manner so that issues and solutions are understood regardless of IT skills.
• Work with colleagues across EM and other service providers to identify system opportunities.
• Ensure system changes have appropriate in-built controls to ensure data quality and process integrity. Ensure these are of an acceptable quality in terms of performance before any changes are made to live systems.
• Identify and report issues with performance, integrity or security for core administrative systems.
Skills & Experience:
• Educated to A Level or have demonstrable equivalent experience.
• Working knowledge of database management systems (DBMS), database technologies and structured query language (SQL).
• Project Management skills and ability to understand and document process and procedures in an IT context.
• Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
• Professional manner, able to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
• Very good analysis and problem solving skills, ability to use own initiative.
• Ability to prioritise tasks whilst under pressure, flexible and able to adapt to change.
• Experience in all areas f database administration, user training and system documentation and report writing.
Mon-Fri working 36.5 hours per week
36 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays
