Senior Systems Support Specialist

Our client is seeking 2 Senior Systems Support Specialists for a minimum period of 3 month – this is likely to be extended – due to new system implementation.

Job Responsibilities:
• To participate in changing working practice associated with the introduction of new systems and new system functionality
• Facilitating process mapping sessions where required and documenting findings and making recommendations and proposals for consideration as necessary.
• Use detailed knowledge of IT System Management and organisation workflow to contribute to the planning and implementation of new electronic systems.
• To take a key role in the day to day system management of electronic systems post implementation.
• To actively participate in the development and implementation of procedures and processes which will:
• Deal promptly and efficiently with all identification and electronic records management issues in order to minimise risk,
• Ensure electronic systems are available to support the continuity of customer care at all times,
• Record and document day to day maintenance, faults and performance issues,
• Identify in conjunction with the stakeholders, clinical risks associated with the use of electronic systems.
• Ensuring that all documentation is kept up to date and in line with version control policies.
• Responsible for the coordination, configuration, set up and maintenance of:
o user access
o system master files, ensuring completeness and accuracy at all times
o system related templates
o system printing facilities including monitoring of printing functions
o system batch jobs using appropriate systems tools
• To log, allocate and prioritise all faults and calls via the IT Service Desk system, escalating where appropriate to the Systems Manager.
• To provide specialist assistance, advice, and fault diagnosis for users of IT equipment and systems. Using expertise to provide a full diagnostic service when fault finding.
• Help rollout new equipment and new / updated information systems. As part of this, occasionally provide training on a range of IT systems / subjects to end users on an ad-hoc basis.
• Participate in quality assurance and audit programme to optimise the clinical potential of IT systems.
• To act as a liaison between the organisation and 3rd party suppliers
• Analyse, investigate and resolve complex IT queries / data queries and issues/problems
• Analyse and investigate incidents providing fault resolution to all users.
• Develop and maintain good practices and procedures for the day to day monitoring and documentation of systems performance.
• Develop and maintain good working practices for efficient logging and analysis of incident, requests for change and service requests.
• Participate in the identification and enforcement of relevant legislation, guidelines, security updates and policies that may need to be applied.
• Responsible for the day to day management of the System Support Specialists and Administrators
• To liaise with other IT colleagues / teams in relation to software upgrade, server health and ensure system backup and recovery procedures are in place.

Personal Attributes:

• Good general education at degree level (preferably IT)
• Formal IT qualification (ECDL, A+, BTEC) or demonstrable equivalent experience
• Evidence of ITIL training and qualification
• Evidence of continuous personal and professional development
• Prince project management an advantage
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an IT support role
• Demonstrable experience of system administration support including access management, change and configuration management
• Experience in the testing and implementation of IT systems
• Experience in the development and implementation of policies and procedures
• Experience in the facilitating of process mapping
• Experience of managing change and dealing with resistance to change
• Experience of supervision / team management

Pay rate circa £15.00 per hour for 37 hour week Monday – Friday
