Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer

SENIOR LEAD MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Our client is an established Building Services company that specialises in surveying and design, undertaking projects covering engineering and construction management. They are now looking to add to their team, and are looking for someone who can act as a lead M&E designer, team leader of a mechanical section and is comfortable leading electrical discussions where required. You would be working with renewable technologies and advanced controls as a routine part of design.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• BEng (Hons) in Building Services Engineering
• Member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers CIBSE – preferable
• CEng – Registered Chartered Engineer

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

• Simulation: familiar with Hevacomp / IES
• AutoCAD
• BIM: Leading HVAC design input to Revit modelling, Use of Navisworks
• Proficient with MS Office programs

IDEAL EXPERIENCE:
Ideally, you would have project experience similar in size and scope to those listed below:

• 27,600 sq.m. Civic Centre and Office Space to BCO standards; employed to develop to the consultant’s stage 4 from stage 3 following novation to the main contractor.
• Navisworks use for detail multi-service co-ordination with structure and architecture, selecting equipment and troubleshooting design problems.
• Authoring BMS controls specification and implementing efficient plant operating strategies into documentation.
• Design and site support role for M&E contractor working on a new university campus. Including site meetings.
• Supervision of sub-contract blue chip design consultant’s BIM design and specification compliance monitoring role.
• Involvement in the detailed procurement of HVAC plant and achieving client sign-off. Particular responsibility including university data centre.
• 2 x full duties mechanical design for Schools upgrade programme: New Build primary school; New Extension and Refurbishment.
SALARY & BENEFITS
• Salary: Competitive Salary Depending on Experience (circa £50k) – starting salary according to level of experience.
• Statutory Company Pension: after 3 months’ probation
• Hours: 8.30 – 5.00 with an hour lunch
• Holidays: 23 days holiday plus bank holidays (with a number of days to be saved for the Christmas shut down)
• Permanent Position after completing a 3-month probation period
