Logistics Account Manager / Commercial Assistant (GRADUATE)

Our client a leading provider of innovative and cost effective solutions for the handling of bulk commodities on a global basis are looking for a Commercial Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic graduate with some office based work experience ideally within a customer focussed role, who is quick to learn and willing to travel globally with this role.

Their ability to provide comprehensive services of bulk handling, mobile bagging, terminal management, third party equipment maintenance, logistics, warehousing and professional consultancy advice, combined with its excellent record of productivity and performance, has led to strong, trusted and long lasting relationships with clients on 6 continents.

Responsibilities for the Commercial Assistant role:
• To assist the Director and Commercial Manager in the day-to-day sales, administration and planning of the commercial department in order to maintain and develop the client’s services to worldwide accounts within the dry bulk ports and logistics sector
• To provide pivotal support to the Commercial Team
• Support the Commercial Team in the Development of new and existing clients, both nationally and internationally, through telephone enquiries and research
• Support the Commercial Team in respect of opportunities for the Group’s extensive fleet of bulk handling equipment and bagging projects including the preparation of quotations for ‘spot’ and long term contracts and tenders
• Dealing with incoming enquiries and co-ordination of sales enquiry process, including liaising with the technical department regarding quotes, manufacture and customer requirements
• Dealing with incoming enquiries as to upcoming/ongoing bulk handling projects if required
• Updating and maintaining the company Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system including processing of contracts and aftersales orders through to completion
• Handling telephone enquiries and provide cover for the Commercial Team/Manager when they are travelling / visiting Accounts
• Assisting in maintaining up to date records of operational costings and other administrative records (contracts / reports) for different locations around the world
• Producing bespoke supplementary information for Commercial Manager/Team sometimes at short notice
• Providing any other administrative duties as may be required to meet the needs of the department/business
• Support and develop effective working relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers
• Attending exhibitions and conferences and promoting the Group’s activities if required

QUALIFICATIONS
• Ideally educated to degree level but as a minimum, applicants must have at least 5 GCSE (‘O’ level) standard including minimum grade C or 4 in Mathematics and English Language

REQUIRED SKILLS
• Strong and concise communication skills, both written and verbal
• Good grammatical and numerical skills
• Dynamic and open minded individual
• Strong analytical approach to cost management
• High attention to detail
• Ability to work on own using initiative
• Fully competent with IT including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
• Ability to multi-task, manage workloads and prioritise

EXPERIENCE (PREFERRED)
• Experience of providing support within a commercial environment but candidates with suitable related experience or with transferable skills who are wishing to develop may be considered
• Experience of working in a customer focused environment
• Exposure to other cultures in either personal or professional capacity
• Practical use of Excel in a previous role
• Experience of CRM system preferred but not essential
• French or Spanish speaker as a second language advantageous
