Junior Sous Chef

Junior Sous Chef, Brentwood, up to £24,000

At Select Hospitality Chelmsford we are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Junior Sous Chef.

The Role
To support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in ensuring that the highest standards of food preparation and presentation are provided consistently within given costs and budget parameters within a rosette environment.

Responsibilities
• Work with the Head Chef and all other chefs to ensure everyone consistently produces excellent food for the restaurant.
• Supervise and motivate all staff in line with good management principles; deploy staff to maximum efficiency; and ensure that excellent standards of work are achieved consistently.
•Undertake regular H&S checks of equipment, premises and working practises, and ensure that necessary remedial action is taken as appropriate; retain relevant Environmental Health documentation.
• Assist the Head and Sous Chef to organise and write rotas for chefs. Ensure that adequate rotas are in place particularly for weekends and holidays.
• To undertake or participate in any other duties or tasks as reasonably directed or requested by the Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef.

Experience and Skills required
• Experience of working in a kitchen environment with responsibility for managing staff.
•Ability to motivate others and an ability to adopt a hand-on approach in a varied and demanding team environment.
•Awareness of the Food Safety Act 1990, Food Hygiene (general) Regulations 1970 and 1987, COSHH Regulations 1988 and H&S at Work Act 1974.
