Food & Beverage Assistant

Select Hospitality Oxford is currently recruiting for a Hospitality Assistant to work in a business canteen. Our client is a highly successful and reputable business based in south Oxford and has a great company atmosphere. The role is for an immediate start.

This is a Monday to Friday role working 42.5 hours per week (07:00 to 15:30) – no evenings or weekends.

We are looking for a professional, smart looking; very well-spoken, customer service focused Hospitality Assistant who can fulfil a variety of roles:

Role Purpose And Summary Objectives:

To deliver exceptional customer service to the senior management and other staff within the business canteen, and support the service and team by ensuring all allocated and associated tasks are carried out according to agreed standard operating procedures and within required time frames.

Key relationships and interfaces:

Develop sound working relationships with the canteen team, and demonstrate courtesy and professional customer service attitude/behaviour to all internal and external customers.

Operational processes and procedures:

• To follow standard work processes in carrying out all duties
• To liaise with conference, kitchen, finance and front of house teams and assist in the delivery of an ongoing program of product and process development initiatives based upon customer requirements and service delivery improvements
• To identify and recommend areas for improvement, and to progress problem resolution through participating in OCCs
• To be involved in ad hoc tasks and projects as required
• To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all house rules as displayed within the kitchen area, and to maintain excellent housekeeping standards
• To ensure adherence to Personal Hygiene rules at all times, as displayed in the kitchen area

Qualifications and experience:

Career experience in catering would be idea but nor essential as full training can be given
Manual Handling
Full training can be given


• The ability to quickly understand processes and their key success factors, and to identify opportunities to improve through the application and implementation of lean tools and techniques
• The ability to work from own initiative and escalate any customer service issues to Line Manager for resolution.

Salary and benefits

The successful General Assistant will be provided with an annual salary of £18,468.

This is a full time role, working 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 07:00 – 15:30 – no evenings or weekends.

21 day holiday allowance (plus bank holidays), free meals on duty during the 30 minute lunch break and 15 minute breakfast break, pension scheme available, free parking on site and uniform provided.
