SALARY: £35,000 – £45,000

I am currently working with a client who are seeking a Fabrication Engineer to join their manufacturing engineering team. The Fabrication Engineer will mainly provide manufacturing engineering support across the range of operations within their fabrication cell, which include sheet metal laser cutting, sheet metal bending/forming, welding and tube forming. Working in collaboration with the Design Engineering, Quality and Production team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Provide ongoing support to the related manufacturing processes ensuring safety of operations, quality of manufactured components and meeting demand requirements with minimum cost.
•Generate DNC laser cutting programs with CAM software.
•Generate DNC sheet metal bending programs (for press brake operation) with 3D CAM software.
•Manage all tooling requirements (facilities, tools & gauges) within the fabrication cell, including press brake air bending tools, forming tools, tube forming tools and partly weld fixtures.
•Along with the manufacturing engineering team provide support in New Product Introduction by:
oParticipating in design reviews with the design engineering team and driving products’ design towards manufacturability, quality performance & cost reduction.
oDetermining manufacturing process (sequence of operations and process cycle times) for new manufactured components to ensure capability and cost targets are met.
oContributing in capital equipment tooling planning and procurement, ensuring project timelines and targets are met.
oWorking as part of a cross functional team, conduct FMEA’s and Control plans where appropriate to ensure processes are suitable assessed and controlled in line with Quality targets and expectations.
•Be a mentor and participate in the training programs for our apprentices.

Employment Requirements:
•Degree educated or equivalent in engineering or relevant engineering experience.
•Minimum years 5 of experience in sheet metal fabrication within an operations environment.
•Experience in CAD/CAM systems regarding sheet metal processing, including:
oGood understanding of sheet metal forming processes and tooling requirements.
•Experience in minimum 3 big scale projects (portfolio proof required).
•Experience in welding operations (focused in robot welding) and jig & fixture requirements it would beneficial.
