At Select Hospitality Oxford we are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an Events and Operations Manager
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Conference Services, you will be responsible for the management or commercial conference and event activities, summer school operations as well as the implementation of the high standards expected of the conference team. You will also be integral to the generation of new business. You will be a warm, outgoing individual, with a keen attention to detail and a drive to ensure continued excellence in the department. You will be willing to do whatever is needed to get the job done.

• Establish and maintain the implementation standards of the Conference Team. This will include; improving site presentation standards, setting the standards for set-ups of events and conferences, taking a proactive approach to any issues to ensure an excellent customer experience, recruiting and managing new assistants, and managing junior managers and supporting them through the delivery of your vision.
• To manage events from booking all the way through implantation and billing. This will come in the form of; planning the events, having excellent communication skills to liaise with other teams as well as the customer to ensure the customers’ needs are met or exceeded, ensure the events are costed and delivered to meet profitability targets, creating and producing event documentation to ensure all records are up to date on relevant systems, produce and administer contracts and invoices alongside the Accounts Dept.
• Lead the team’s response to new business enquiries through; setting up and maintaining standards of response to enquiries, responding to customer enquiries whether through the conference enquiry system or from private customers.
• Supporting the team in the delivery of a profitable, well-implemented programme of events. This can take the shape of; focussing on the operational issues in the delivery of short-term academic programmes, assisting with bed and breakfast bookings, event admin or other such deliverables as may be required by other team members, dealing with general correspondence, and compiling and maintaining an accurate sales and expenditure summary along with more detailed financial analysis.

Experience and Skills required:
•Educated to degree level or equivalent
•Fluent English
•Excellent written and verbal skills to communicate with a wide range of people
•Good IT and keyboard skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
•Good initiative and time management skills
•Physical fitness for moving furniture according to customer wishes
•Reliable and conscientious with a positive and proactive approach to problem solving
•Good team player
•Flexible approach to working hours
•Well presented and professional
•Experience of dealing with operational or logistical issues in the delivery of events
•Experience of corporate or hospitality events working with a wide range of people

Salary and Benefits
•My client is offering the successful candidate a salary of £32,000 for 39 hours per week
•36 days holiday (inc Bank Holidays)
