Job Title: Buyer
Salary: £20,000 – 22,000 per annum
Hours: 8am – 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, 8am – 1.30pm Friday

A well-established client of ours based in Lincoln is seeking a Buyer to join their team. You will be responsible for the buying of the raw materials for the factory, ensuring no stock outages and maintaining stocks within the safety stock advised on the system. Keeping costs to the minimum and not incurring any additional costs.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring all purchase orders are placed within the lead times of the product/supplier; preventing any stock outages at the factory, and ensuring stock remains within agreed parameters. Confirming delivery dates as soon as orders are confirmed from supplier.
• Reschedule orders in-line with current demand, updating systems so other departments are aware of delivery dates.
• Support the Consumables Buyer with the placing of orders for any consumable requests to help serve the business, ensuring all the correct approvals have been sought.
• Expedite any overdue orders
• Review the open order books regularly and have an updated copy ready for the weekly purchasing meeting. Close down any open balances and liaise with other departments to ensure the dates of their purchase orders are also up to date.
• Assist Quality when material is rejected to ensure supplier collects and issues credit note in a timely manner. Attend the weekly MRB meetings to help with this process.
• Resolve any invoice queries for finance to ensure no delays in payments.
• Ensure all departments are up to date with any information regarding material/orders that could affect production.

Person Specification

CIPS – Level 4 desirable but not essential
GCSE Maths & English – essential

Skills & Knowledge

• Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Word & Excel; experience of an MRP system is an advantage.
• Excellent attention to detail, accurate and consistent in completion of work.
• Able to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Confident, articulate and experienced in working at pace in a fast moving business environment.
• The ability to multitask and work effectively as part of a team.
• 3-5 years’ experience in a procurement function, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
