At Select Hospitality Oxford we are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an Assistant Catering Manager
The Role:
My Client is a well-respected Oxford College based in Oxford City centre are looking for a dedicated, professional Assistant Catering Manager to work alongside the Head of Catering and Head Chef to consistently deliver excellent levels of catering and hospitality service, and support the delivery of the colleges conference and banqueting services to a high quality.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the food service and customer service of all employees and hospitality events when required. Also responsible for greeting and sitting guests and ensuring they are happy with the service provided by the team
• Planning of banquets, conferences and other catering services provided as well as ensuring they are appropriately staffed
• Liasing with other members of the college staff regarding any dietary requirements or special requests
• Staff management; including training new staff, planning rotas, and managing in absence of the Head of Catering
• Ensure compliance of all food safety, H&S and COSHH procedures to the high standard of the client
• Stock control and cellar management
• Any other duties as required by the Head of Catering
The Ideal Candidate:
• Three to five years of hospitality management experience preferably in a similar conference or banqueting setting
• Proven ability to manage large teams of staff
• Excellent organisational skills
• Good knowledge of food and wine from different countries
• Used to working in pressure environments
• Good interpersonal skills as well as communication skills to deal with a wide range of people politely
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc..)
Personal Characteristics
• Flexible as regards to shift patterns and working weekends
• Flexible and proactive attitude to work
• Have the ability to work within a team, but also able to work under own initiative
• Smart and tidy appearance
• Ability to work potentially long and late hours, as well as carrying specific items such as wine cases
The position is for 45 hours per week, including evenings and weekends, such as are required for the expected performance of the duties.
Salary and Benefits
• My client is offering the successful Assistant Catering Manager a salary of around £26,000-£32,000 depending on experience
