welcome to Select Appointments
cracking easter fun for everyone
Egg-cellent turn out for celebrations across the town
Hundreds of eggs got ‘choc’-ing and rolling around Reading as a variety of charities and schools got into the Easter celebrations.
Radio station Reading 107fm collected a staggering 1,280 Easter eggs for the Variety Club children’s charity.
It took half an hour for all the eggs to be loaded and counted into vans, with the help of six volunteers from the Thames Vale Vultures and 107fm staff.
This is the first year the station has collected Easter eggs, and it has proved so popular, the initiative, called the Berkshire Egg Run, will also take place again this time next year, on Friday, April 10th, 2009.
Meanwhile Select Appointments in Reading town centre also took part and collected 343 Easter eggs and gifts from its customers. It distributed the goodies to schools and charities including The Avenue School in Whitley, Albert Road Day Centre, Caversham and Royal Berkshire Hospital’s Dolphin Ward.
Alex Davis, of Select Appointments, said: “We had such a good response, as the company beat a target of collecting 500 eggs and gifts.”
