Heart of Birmingham Teaching Primary Care Trust serves some of the most deprived and culturally diverse communities in inner city Birmingham, encompassing the wards of Aston, Bordesley Green, Handsworth Wood, Ladywood, Lozells & East Handsworth, Nechells, Soho, Sparkbrook and Springfield. The Trust spends £330 million (2004/05) on healthcare, providing hospital, GP and community services for a population of over 300,000 people.

The PCT currently employs around 1000 staff, most of who work in nursing or therapies, but also in administrative and support functions. The headquarters are at Bartholomew House, Hagley Road, and most of the PCT's services are managed there. The Trust is determined to become a progressive employer, creating an energised and committed workforce by promoting innovation and peveloping a culture that positively encourages creative thinking and ideas.

Select Appointments supplies temporary medical secretaries, ward clerks, administrators and receptionists to the Trust on a regular basis.
