Tomorrow's People

February 2008

Select, one of the UK’s leading staffing services companies, is proud to be working in partnership with the charity Tomorrow’s People. Select is a leading staffing services company and comprises of Select Appointments, Parkhouse Recruitment, Select Hospitality and Select Capital.

The dedication of Select and its employees goes beyond finding jobs for people and people for jobs. For 2007/8 Select has nominated Tomorrow’s People as their corporate charity to support their aim of helping disadvantaged people find and keep a job. This worthwhile charity is dedicated to ‘making life work’ and helps individuals from all walks of life into sustainable employment.

Select is supporting Tomorrow’s People by organising a wide range of fundraising events on both a national and local level. Since July 2007, offices up and down the country have organised a different activities - from tandem bike rides to sponsored silences and Halloween Balls to dress down days and sky dives. Three team members will also be running in the Flora London Marathon in April this year and have each committed to raise a minimum level of sponsorship.

Select’s year of fundraising will culminate in a grand finale – The Select Way Round. On 1st July 2008, Rod Jackson, Chief Operating Officer, David Buist, Franchise Development Manager and Lee Davies, Head of Select Group OnSite, will embark on a motorbike marathon. Riding off into Europe, they are aiming to cover 17 countries in 14 days on motorbikes that weigh close to a third of a ton! So far, Rod, David and Lee have dug deep into their own pockets to buy the motorbikes – three BMW R1200 GS Adventure’s (the same as Ewan’s and Charlie’s on the Long Way Down) – that are needed to complete this arduous journey.

Debbie Scott, Chief Executive of Tomorrow’s People, who has recently been awarded an OBE for services to the unemployed, is thrilled with the partnership and commented: “We are so excited that Select has chosen Tomorrow’s People as their corporate charity partner and are delighted to be working with an organisation that we have such synergy with. I’ve been very impressed with the various fundraising activities that have been undertaken across the country and am pleased to be able to wish Rod, David and Lee every success in The Select Way Round.”

Rod Jackson commented “We are delighted to have the opportunity to support this worthwhile charity and help enrich the lives of adults and children throughout the UK. We hope that our efforts will go some way to helping the people of Tomorrow.”
